Project: Jeffrey Gibson: Like a Hammer Exhibition
Client: Mississippi Museum of Art
Jeffrey Gibson: Like a Hammer, organized by Denver Art Museum and installed at the Mississippi Museum of Art, presented nearly 60 works of art including wall hangings, beaded punching bags, painted works on rawhide and canvas, and video. The Kiyomi team, which has more than twenty years of experience handling and installing fine art, worked closely with the museum team during the entire installation process. Artwork hung on gray walls, while brighter colors were used in entry and exit areas. The bold title graphic included a repetitive pattern that mimicked hammer strikes. Complementary fonts were used throughout the galleries, primarily in black, with brightly colored headings and quotation marks. Visitor engagement areas utilized bright colors, exhibit fonts, and materials inspired by Gibson's artwork.
